When Adriano Zumbo started dating Nelly Riggio in 2016, it wasn’t long before the pair felt the heat.

The 37-year-old pâtissier and the former My Kitchen Rules contestant copped a hard time with rumours their relationship was the result of an affair.

Prior to her romance with Adriano, Nelly appeared on MKR in 2016 with her boyfriend of five years, JP Huillet.

Nelly and JP appeared on My Kitchen Rules in 2016.

But Adriano, who will appear on MasterChef Australia this week, says the lovebirds have put the tough times behind them and couldn’t be happier. In fact, they’re keen to start a family.

“Definitely,” Adriano says when asked if he wants children. “Just two is good.”

The couple, who met when Nelly applied for a job at Adriano’s successful dessert business, are even hoping to launch their own TV show in the future.

“A travel cooking show would be a great fit for us, I reckon,” he adds.

Despite all the backlash the couple received in the early stages of their romance, Adriano says he and Nelly, 27, are stronger than ever.

“I’m used to criticism,” he explains to TV WEEK. “In the end, you have to do what makes you happy. The people who love you and are around you are all that matters.

Life is sweet for dessert maestro Adriano and girlfriend Nelly.

“Nelly and I are going great. She’s an amazing person and has been very supportive and loving. She’s always positive and loves life.”

So who’s the better cook in the household?

“I am, hands down!” Adriano laughs. “I do most of the cooking and Nelly makes the salad.”
