On Tuesday night season seven fan favourite Rose Adam was eliminated from MasterChef: Back To Win.

She had just come off second best after a gruelling pressure test at hidden Melbourne restaurant, Enter Via Laundry owned by Helly Raichura.

And though she may not be the season 12 winner, not many people can say they’ve offered celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay a job in their cafe.

Speaking exclusively to Now To Love, Rose says there’s a place for Gordon at The Middle Store in South Australia and admits this pressure test was unlike any other for one big reason.

Now To Love: We’re sorry to see you go Rose, your positivity will be missed! But when’s Gordon joining the team at your cafe?

We’ve just got to rearrange a few things in the salary and the budget. I’m putting it down to COVID-19 as to why he hasn’t come down yet because he’s in lockdown in the UK and obviously we’re here. As soon as this is all done, I’m sure he’ll be on a plane!

I did laugh when Jock said ‘I’ll pass on Gordon’s number so you can get in touch with him,’ and in the back of my mind I’m thinking Gordon’s already texted him going ‘Do not give Rose my number – she’s a stage five clinger, let her go!’

He may be scary on TV but Gordon also seems very supportive in the kitchen. What was it like working with him?

I was petrified when I walked in. He was blackened out and there was this shadow behind him and we couldn’t see his face. When we figured out who it was I just thought to myself ‘Why did I come back? What am I doing here?’

[Gordon] is just the most brilliant mentor. At one point he actually said to us ‘You’re not asking me enough questions, don’t be shy. Even if it’s something you already know how to do talk to me about it and maybe I can show you a different way.’ He’s such a giving personality – he’s so kind and generous. He was tough, don’t get me wrong and if you did something wrong he was very clear about it but he was never rude about it. He was super friendly and super nice so I was really floored.

I kind of secretly wanted him to yell at me, just a little bit. We all joked that we had that fantasy that Gordon Ramsay would call us an idiot sandwich and put our face between two bits of bread just to say ‘Gordon Ramsay had a meltdown on me.’ But when you actually see him start to go down that road in real life, you don’t want it!

What was it like making such an intricate dish as the Pasta Not Pasta? Hadn’t only one other person perfected it?

She’s only got one other chef in her place that knows how to do it and the chef that knows how to do it was on site to make it for the taste test.

I had a little chat with her off-set when we were waiting for things to happen and she said ‘Honestly it took me two or three goes the first time I made it to get it right.’ She goes ‘The fact that you guys in this environment in an hour all got it right, I can’t believe it,’ so that was so nice to hear. Just hearing that made me think there’s no shame in going home on a dish like that because it was epic.

Being in someone’s back yard with the other contestants must’ve been tough. Did that make this pressure test harder than other ones?

100 per cent. I’ve done so many pressure tests – in my original season I think I did eight so I became really seasoned at them but the reason I was so good at them was because we had this massive clock on top of us so I could manage my time. I could constantly see how much time had elapsed but when we were doing it in Helly’s back yard we didn’t have a clock. It was so hard to know how much time had passed and we had a timer but that wasn’t the clock so that was really tough.

The contestants were so supportive – they didn’t offer advice and say things like ‘You sure you should be doing that?’ they were really encouraging so that was nice because they were so close. But it was weird being in a tent in the back yard.

When we pulled up to the house I was thinking ‘Where are we going to cook this dish?’ I was so confused the whole day, I had no idea what was next. Normally when you’re in the MasterChef kitchen, your brain goes to the next logical step whereas here I was like ‘I don’t know what happens after this bit here.’ It was a whole bunch of unknown out of your usual environment.

Who would you love to see win this season?

I have to say someone from South Australia and I’m from South Australia and I think they’ll kick me out of the state if I don’t back the South Australian contestants. I would love to see Poh, Callum or Tracey win. Poh’s my bestie so I have to give her a special shoutout.

She’s a fan favourite for sure, and people are loving her chaotic, bubbly energy!

That’s her, I feel like people don’t actually realise that’s actually Poh. This is not a TV act or a persona legit that’s just her, she’s this brilliant genius.

I don’t know how her brain works but at some point in the cook out of chaos she just creates these amazing creations and it’s astounding to me. I’m like ‘I don’t know how you get through this but you do it and you do it well.’

Rose says Poh is a “brilliant genius” in the kitchen.
