Book a date with your couch and your favourite TV dinner, because Channel 10 has officially confirmed the date of this year’s MasterChef finale.

The network revealed the news this week, revealing the 90-minute finale will air on Monday July 20 at 7.30pm.

In what is sure to be a nail-biting end to the popular reality TV cooking program, the show’s top two contestants will battle it out for the coveted winner’s title, as well as a whopping $250,000 in prize money.

While previous MasterChef finales have included painstakingly challenging cooking tasks, like the famous croquembouche in season six, Ten has given fans a little sneak peek at exactly what these final two cooks will be up against in the finale episode.

“The judges reveal they have four hours to each serve a three-course meal; an entrée; a main and a dessert, for the judges and their fellow contestants,” the network said in a statement.

“With access to the garden, an open pantry and over 60 plates of food to serve, whoever delivers the most impressive menu will be crowned the winner of MasterChef Australia 2020 Back To Win.”

Five contestants remain in the competition – Reynold Poernomo, Emelia Jackson, Laura Sharrad, Callum Hann and Reece Hignell – but a dark horse has emerged as the strong bookies’ favourite to win the title.

Pastry chef Emelia Jackson’s odds at winning the entire season have recently increased.

According to betting agency Sportsbet, the semi finalist from the 2014 season has had her odds shaved from $8, to $3 and now they’re down to just $1.37.

Back in May, the online bookmaker accepted $20,000 in bets on Emelia, raising suspicions that she could take home the title.

That means she is now the firm favourite to win behind Reynold, whose odds are at $3.50, followed by Laura Sharrad, whose odds are sitting at $4.75.

Nice guy Callum Hann is fourth in line to win at $15, followed by Reece Hignell at $34.

“Emelia has been simmering in the pack, but with the finals approaching she’s been minced by punters,” Sportsbet commentator Rich Hummerston said in a statement.
