Between whispering sweet nothings to wife Jules Robinson at dinner parties to professing his love at commitment ceremonies, Married at First Sight groom Cameron Merchant has reached peak happiness – but it took some dark days to get there.
‘I struggled with mental health issues,’ Cameron bravely confided to OK!.
“I’d finished up my career and lost a big relationship, I didn’t know where my career was going to go, I didn’t have a relationship or my own family.”

Cam admits a lack of stability sent him into a downward spiral.
“I would wake up and I couldn’t even put pants on. It was really tough,” the 35-year-old revealed.
“I had achieved everything in my life, but two of the things missing were a partner and a family, and chasing those two things were the things that allowed me to get out of bed.”

Thankfully, the chase is over for the loveable groom. Cam met his love match on MAFS, and he and Jules, 36, have been kicking relationship goals ever since.
“We’re both absolutely in love,” he said.
“We both came into it with open hearts and minds and we’ve been rewarded.”

And despite an explosive season with more drama than many thought possible, the Sydney-based pair has emerged as one of the show’s most loved couples in its six-season history.
“We’re on the same page. It’s so exciting,” Cam said.
And it seems the pair won’t be holding back from progressing their relationship – and yes, that even includes the pitter patter of little feet!
Cam has spoken previously about his desire to start a family, revealing that it even had a hand in helping him out of his depression.
“[At the time] I had achieved everything in my life but two things were missing – a partner and kids – and chasing those two things were what allowed me to get out of bed,” he explained in a previous interview.
He and Jules were quick to discuss the topic of family on the show, with both being relieved to find they were on the same page.
In a touching moment between the pair, Cam sealed their relationship by exclaiming: “I love you! And I could see myself having a family with you!”
