As the going gets tough during Confession Week one bride and groom questions whether the grass is greener on the other side.

When the experts ask the couples to rank their spouses alongside the other brides and grooms, a rift arises between some of the pairings.

For Coco and Sam, it’s the tip of the iceberg. Sam, 32, admits he likes the “girl next door look”, but after critiquing Coco’s looks and personality and ranking her fourth out of the brides, Coco, 30, isn’t feeling the love.

When Coco ranks him sixth, Sam’s ego is bruised, and they spend the night separately.

But is the challenge enough to send them into the arms of other lovers?

After a rocky honeymoon, Jo and James promise they’ll do better to solve disagreements. However, when they tackle the ranking task, Jo, 39, puts Jake above James, 44, triggering James’ trust issues.

“My type is very rugged. Unshaven, messy hair, tattoos, piercings,” Jo admits.

The similarities to Jake, 32, don’t go unnoticed for James. Could Jo’s attraction lead her down an adulterous path?

Is there a couple swap already?

Jo admits she ranks Jake as #1 amongst the grooms.

Shock walkout

The couples have been living in holy matrimony for just over a week. While some pairings have been going from strength to strength, for others, it’s been one challenge after the next.

As Confession Week unfolds, the tension becomes too much for one bride or groom.

Sparks were flying for Melissa and Bryce, until the honesty box prompted him to admit that Melissa wasn’t his type.

“I was quite composed in that moment but it was heartbreaking,” Melissa admits to TV WEEK.

While Melissa tried to put Bryce’s admission behind her, when he ranks her fourth in the Confessions Week challenge, her insecurities are piqued.

Melissa isn’t Bryce’s “type”.

“I knew it would make our relationship more difficult because I’d be going, ‘What if he wants to be with one of the other girls?'” Melissa, 31, remembers.

Is this the straw that breaks the camel’s back for the new bride?

Meanwhile, Samantha and Cam are on the rocks after Cam’s explosive confession that he doesn’t feel an emotional connection.

After a failed attempt at reconciliation, the newlyweds head back to Sydney separately, calling in relationships expert John Aiken for an emergency counselling session.

Will the couple stay or call it quits already?
