Married At First Sight 2020 saw more drama than any other season but at least we had the sweet love story of returning bride Lizzie Sobinoff and Seb Guilhaus.

However, the pair have just confirmed that their relationship is over after 14 months of dating.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, the former MAFS couple shared the same photo to their respective Instagram accounts.

“We have mutually decided to end our relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend. We want to thank everyone for the endless support we have received on our platforms,” Lizzie and Seb’s identical captions read.

They went on to urge followers: “Please be kind and respectful. We are aware you have followed parts of our journey, but please remember we are real people, and we are both navigating our way through this time to the best of our abilities.

“Naturally we are both aware there will be countless rumours and so on. Again, we are both navigating our way through this time so please be respectful and we won’t be allowing comments on this post. It is still fresh for us both, we just know there has been some curiosity as we have shared parts of our relationship online and we met on national television.”

The reality stars ended their posts: “We are both respectful of each other and are still involved in each other’s lives. We both have cherished each other and have grown together. We would like to send love and well wishes to all.”

It’s over! Lizzie and Seb are no longer dating.

Lizzie and Seb’s attraction was instant when they met at the altar and were the only couple to leave the experiment together.

Returning bride Lizzie came back for a second shot after her disastrous match with Sam Ball in the previous season who ended up cheating on her with co-star, Ines Basic.

The couple faced their fair share of challenges throughout their relationship. When the coronavirus pandemic first kicked off, the couple’s plans to move in together were put on hold and the two tackled a long-distance relationship – Lizzie was isolating in her hometown of Newcastle whilst Seb was in his hometown Adelaide.

“It’s definitely not easy, and we both thrive on physical touch. So that’s a bit of a downer, because we can’t do that right now,” she told 9Entertainment in May 2020 of being apart from Seb.

Personal trainer Seb however added that their phone conversations have been the couple’s “bread and butter”.

“We’ve gotten closer, we’ve strengthened our bond, but we do still reach out for physical touch,” he explained.

The two tackled a long-distance relationship during the early stages of the pandemic.

Back in September the couple fuelled engagement rumours when they exchanged rings with each other’s initials inscribed on them.

“He said to me ‘Is it S & L ?’ I said ‘Yeah, baby’ @seb.guilhaus Corny but I love it,” Lizzie captioned a photo of their matching jewellery on Instagram.

Fans quickly took to the comments section and it didn’t take long for some to ask if a wedding was on the cards.

“Can he put it on your left finger already 🙄 haha your story is actually the best thing ever to come out of MAFS,” one fan joked,

“Best couple hope u marry too,” penned another.

Seb and Lizzie’s attraction was instant on their MAFS wedding day.

There are now only three remaining MAFS couples out of 60 of the experts’ pairings that are still together.

Season two’s Erin Bateman and Bryce Mohr who met on the 2016 season are the franchise’s longest-lasting couple whilst season six saw the successful matchings of Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant as well as Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli.

In fact, Jules and Cam have made their love official and tied the knot for real in November 2019.
