Love Island‘s winning couple Grant Crapp, 22, and Tayla Damir, 21, have officially broken up just two weeks after declaring their undying love for one another and splitting the $50K prize money on the show’s grand finale.

While we all know reality TV romances have little to no shelf life, bar the rare exception, two weeks could be the new world record!

Their shock split was confirmed via The Fix on Thursday.

Opening up about her decision to sensationally dump Grant, Tayla explained he was simply “too young” for her and trust issues ultimately got the better of them.

“Obviously I’m heartbroken, it was a big shock to the system,” the reality star told the publication, before confirming she broke up with Grant on Wednesday evening.

“I still respect him as a person and I just think he’s young and he’s made a massively bad decision, and didn’t really think of the consequences that maybe a girl would have fallen in love with him, which just happened to be me,” she said.

“Hopefully that’s something he learned through this experience and he learns how to play with people’s emotions.”

“It came out that there were new accusations that Grant had a live-in girlfriend, and he’s gone on the show to promote his business and get famous,” she continued of the infamous secret girlfriend claims.

Tayla has just set a new reality record for quickest split of all time.

Shockingly for Tayla, she says Grant finally came clean and revealed he did indeed have a partner called Lucy on the outside.

“He denied it when we were in the house and I just had this gut feeling to follow through with it. Once I was able to access media and read the articles, I told Grant he needed to own up. I finally got the answer that was the truth: he was on there to promote himself and he did have a girlfriend who was running his business while he was inside the Villa.”

“I said there was nothing more than I wanted for this to work, and to gain my trust back, but I gave him multiple chances inside the Villa, and obviously once I found out this information as well, the lies just continued the last 10 days. There was no trust being built up with anything. I couldn’t be in a relationship with someone I don’t trust.”

Tayla also tried to reach out to Lucy so she could hear her side of the story but she refused to talk to her.

“He has told me he’s broken up with her now, but has also told me he hasn’t spoken to her since being out of the house,” the Miss Universe stunner lamented.

“Either way, I’m being lied to, or I look at him in that way.”

Shortly after the news broke, the model took to social media to thank fans for their support.

Read Tayla’s heartfelt social media statement in full, below:

“I want to take the time to thank everyone who supported Grant and I during our Love Island journey and especially everyone who has continued to support us since. It has been incredible so far and I feel lucky and privileged to have had the opportunity.

The number one thing for me going into Love Island was to ‘stay completely true to myself and my emotions’ and that’s what I must continue to do.

But it’s with great heartbreak that I write this post to inform everyone that Grant and I are no longer together, but will remain amicable despite the circumstances. I hope everyone can understand that the last few days have been very emotional and overwhelming for me and that you can all respect my decision.”

It’s over! Just two weeks after declaring their undying love for one another, Tayla has dumped Grant.

Grant has been off-the-grid and according to NW, has switched his phone off.

However, before doing so, he took to social media to air his confusion over the announcement.

“This is news to me,” Grant posted under the breaking news update from Love Island Australia’s official account.

Indeed, the couple have been plagued with rumours after NW revealed the Canberra-based electrician had been in a long-term relationship with personal trainer Lucy Cartwright right before entering the show.

Worse still, they were apparently living together up until the time he left for the show, while the pair worked together on his fitness fashion brand Royal Apparel.

While Grant claimed to have been single for more than two years before hitting the villa, that might not be the case.

In fact, he was pictured with Lucy and her family in cosy social media posts as recently as April 8, and was still posting pictures and gushy comments about her just weeks before he headed to Spain.

“I still respect him as a person and I just think he’s young and he’s made a massively bad decision,” Tayla said.

When Now To Love asked Grant about the claims fresh after his win, he said there was nothing to worry about.

“I’d told Tayla everything in my past, and I explained that I was seeing someone six weeks before coming into the villa. I told her that it wasn’t a serious relationship, it was a fling,” he said.

“So when Tayla heard about it in the challenge, I don’t know why she put that face on, cos she had already heard it from me. I think that girl may have been using it for a little bit of fame.”

Tayla was adamant that she trusted Grant’s explanation.

“We spoke about it and he reassured me which was what everyone needs in that situation. I think she just wanted her five minutes of fame,” she told us.

With first Love Island split coming way sooner than anyone expected, all eyes are now on remaining couples Erin and Eden, Josh and Amelia, Shelby and Dom and Millie and Dom.

God speed, guys!

While we all were rooting for Grant and Tayla, on the plus side they make Bachelor In Paradise exes Tara and Sam look like an old married couple in comparison.

Now To Love have reached out to Grant for comment.
