Shane Crawford has been revealed as the first intruder to enter the jungle on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2019.

The AFL legend and former The Footy Show host was revealed to be entering the show on Sunday night, joining a roster of impressive celebrities on the hit reality TV show.

We caught up with Shane ahead of his stint on I’m A Celeb, to find out more about his decision to go on the show, his nerves and how he feels about being the first intruder.

TV WEEK: Why did you sign up?

Shane: It was very appealing to me because it’s a great challenge and I’m sure the kids will love dad being in there. It’s a great way to unwind. If you don’t come out there relaxed and peaceful with life you never will.

I’m a fan of the show. It makes me squirm thinking about being a part of it.

Are you nervous?

Absolutely. I’m scared because I am going to be way out of my comfort zone. I sleep walk at night. I normally go to sleep with the TV or radio going. I don’t like creepy crawlies or snakes and stuff either.

How do you feel about coming in late as an intruder?

I am hoping they’ll only have their back up for a day or two, but that they accept me and welcome me in to the family. I don’t have any objectives apart from trying to survive. I know I will be uncomfortable in a lot of situations. I am just going to try to survive and be a good person to have around, hopefully provide a bit of energy, and be someone who has got everyone’s back – unless they are driving me nuts and I can’t stand them!

Are you worried about being filmed 24/7?

You do think about it and think what about people seeing me pick my nose. I’m sure there will be moments but it is what it is. I think that’s all part of the excitement. You’re baring all and letting it all hang out! What will be will be.

You sleep walk – have you ever landed yourself in a dangerous situation?

Not dangerous but I’ve locked myself out of a hotel room and even walked out the door. You soon work it out and make your way back to where you need to be. It’s not as bad as it used to be. But when you’re in a foreign place and you’ve overtired, which will be every night, it’s normally when something happens!

Let’s hope you don’t walk off into the bush!

It would be a good ending. What a way to go, hey? At least they will capture me wandering off. It will give them content through the night.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs Sunday to Thursday, 7:30pm, on Channel 10.
