School was a tough time for House Rules contestant Michelle.

Chatting to TV WEEK, the 27-year-old from NSW reveals she found herself the target of relentless bullying.

“The popular girls are just drama-starters, and you don’t have to do much,” she recalls of her ordeal.

“I got bullied a lot in primary school – kids were just mean.”

Now a mum to Bella, seven, and six-year-old Aaliyah, Michelle is hoping she can set a positive example for her daughters while on House Rules.

“Everybody’s entitled to their opinion,” she says. “That’s fine. It doesn’t bother me at all.”

Michelle says she doesn’t regret anything that’s happened on the show. Of course, she has faced her share of ‘tough’ moments with other contestants on the series.

Notably, she went head-to-head with ‘villains’ Leigh and Kristie during the final two interior renovations.

Of their ‘feud,’ Kristie admits the pressure took her to “some dark places.”

“You just react in that moment,” Kristie says. “And I stand by Leigh, because what we went through – everybody – it was just stressful. I’d just prefer not to do that again.”

Despite the drama, Michelle is happy with her appearane on House Rules.

“I am who I am,” Michelle declares. “I’m proud of how I’ve come across – and I’m happy for my daughters to watch the show.

“I think I can teach them a lot,” she says.

House Rules airs Monday to Wednesday, 7:30pm and Sunday, 7pm, on Channel Seven.
