Breaking up with someone is never easy, but it's even worse when it plays out on primetime television!
This week, viewers can expect to see Bride & Prejudice's Izzy live through her own "worst nightmare". Her relationship with Simon comes to a dramatic end on-air when he's caught out doing something he really shouldn't.
The split comes just weeks after Izzy shocked her family with the news that she was engaged.
"I was really upset because I've fought tooth and nail for this," Izzy, 28, tells TV WEEK. "I'd dragged my friends and family through pain to fight for this person, only to have it thrown back in my face.
"I'm angry at myself in that regard. But now I see who he is as a person and it's not somebody I want in my life."
Izzy's mum Bobbi took a dislike to Simon from the get-go, but has always stood by her daughter's decisions.
"She never once said, 'I told you so,'" Izzy says of her mum. "She let me make my own mistakes. But it must have been so hard to watch as a parent, because she could see what was happening."
Despite her heartache, Izzy has taken away some valuable lessons from the show.
"I was so wrapped up in thinking if I loved him enough, he'd treat me the same way," she says. "He was very good at making me feel he'd change."
Izzy also stands by her preference to have a non-monogamous relationship.
"Non-monogamy wasn't what was toxic in our relationship," she explains.
"It was Simon and I, and our breakdown of communication.
"Our relationship would have failed if it was non-monogamous or monogamous, because we didn't have a foundation of trust.
"He proved himself to be somebody I couldn't trust, and you can't be with someone like that regardless of what relationship you are in."
Bride & Prejudice airs Monday to Wednesday, 7:30pm, on Channel Seven.
