If you’re wondering when Meghan Markle will respond to her half-brother Thomas Markle’s digs at her on Big Brother VIP, you may be waiting a while.
The Duchess of Sussex is notoriously quiet when it comes to her extended family and it’s unlikely she’ll be changing that stance any time soon.
Thomas Markle Jr. has lashed out at his half-sister on Big Brother VIP.
(Channel 7)Thomas, who is related to Meghan through their father Thomas Markle Snr., has been launching attacks at his royal half-sibling from the moment he signed up for the show.
He called her “shallow” in trailers and claimed that he told Prince Harry “she’s going to ruin your life” before their royal wedding.
On the show’s first episodes, Thomas accused the duchess of being “embarrassed of where she comes from” and spilled intimate details about her first marriage.
“This guy just took care of her like, man she was adored by him and she just walked all over him and dumped him,” Thomas said of Meghan’s ex, Trevor Engelson.
“Sent the ring back in the mail. Is that cold or what?”
Meghan and Trevor were married from 2011 until 2013, when they quietly divorced.
Trevor remarried in 2019 and recently welcomed his second child with new wife Tracey, just a few months after Meghan welcomed daughter Lilibet with Harry.
But those aren’t the only unflattering claims Thomas has made about his sister on Big Brother VIP, saying at one point that “money and fame just went to her head really bad”.
So why hasn’t Meghan done anything to stop him, or at least publicly responded to the claims?
The duchess typically chooses not to get involved when members of the Markle family lash out at her in the press and seems to be sticking to that strategy when it comes to Thomas.
She has remained silent when half-sister Samantha Markle has attacked her during media appearances, only ever commenting once on a “tell-all” book Samantha penned.
“I think it would be very hard to tell-all when you don’t know me,” the royal told Oprah Winfrey in March.
“I don’t feel comfortable talking about people that I really don’t know.”

That “betrayal” led Meghan to cut off her father and she has only ever responded to him publicly to address that rift between them.
Even then, her statements have been brief and most related to the legal battle than ensued when she and Harry went after British tabloids for printing the letter.
With all that in mind, we don’t expect she’ll be reacting to half-brother Thomas’ Big Brother VIP claims any time soon.
Especially given the fact that she doesn’t even view him as her brother, according to comments from her Oprah interview.
“I grew up as an only child, which everyone who grew up around me knows, and I wished I had siblings,” the duchess said.
She hasn’t seen him in at least 10 years and has never responded to any of his public comments about her, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change now.
