In an interview with News.com.au, Ellie spoke about how initially she wanted to turn down the opportunity, but she decided it was a rare chance to change Australia’s views on homelessness.
“If I’m completely honest, when I was initially approached to take part in the documentary series I was pretty closed off to the idea.
“I was asked to do something and be around people I have been conditioned my entire life to avoid – it was scary,” she told the publication.
“I knew it would be an opportunity to help others and potentially change the circumstances of homelessness in our country.”
Does Ellie Gonsalves work with any charities?
In 2020, Ellie became the global ambassador for the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors charity, which Steve and Terri Irwin founded.
This isn’t the first time the Irwin family have recognised the model. In 2018, she received the Wildlife Warriors award during the Steve Irwin day charity event for her work, as reported on her website.

The pair finally got engaged in November 2021 when Ross surprised her by proposing at Australia Zoo.
The blonde beauty was gleefully shocked when he got down on one knee as she co-hosted a croc show with Terri Irwin, her son Robert, and Bindi’s husband, Chandler Powell.
Ross has described himself as Ellie’s managing and consulting partner, who helps develop her brand, online presence, and career on his Linkedin.
He also co-produced Zebra with her and is a supporter of the Wildlife Warriors.
