Matt Golinski is expecting his first child with fiancé Erin Yarwood, almost six years after a house fire tragically killed his wife, three daughters and left him with burns to 40 per cent of his body.

The celebrity chef revealed the happy news at a culinary event in Bundaberg earlier this month, telling regional news paper News Mail that he and his fitness trainer fiancée were expecting at the beginning of August — that’s any minute now!

According to the publication, he was “excited” about welcoming a new baby after years of heartbreak.

Matt recently opened up about his engagement to Erin, who assisted him during his rehabilitation after the tragedy.

“I hadn’t really been considering the idea of a new relationship,” he told the Daily Mail. “I just wanted to get well and move on from everything.”

“Then, fate came along and I was lucky to meet someone who was really special.”

He added: “I started thinking about how I could imagine spending my life with her.”

The former Ready Steady Cook regular last week confirmed he proposed on top of the Sunshine Coast’s Mount Cooroora in Pomona.

“A lot of people search their whole lives for love,” he concluded. “I have been lucky enough to have two great loves. To love two, wonderful, kind women.”

Speaking with Woman’s Day, a close friend previously described Matt’s relationship with Erin as “a very special love story.”

“Erin came into Matt’s life to help with his rehabilitation in the early days,” they said. “They clicked right away, a lovely friendship formed and, slowly and gently, their feelings have changed. It’s become a very special love story.”

“It’s unimaginable what he’s been through,” the friend said of Matt, now 45, who lost wife Rachael, 38, and daughters Starlia, 10, and 12-year-old twins Willow and Sage in the fire.

“He has an extraordinary fighting spirit, and Erin has been there with a hand on his back all the way. That sort of devotion is rare, and it’s given Matt a reason to fight on and make the best of his life. To see the light back in his eyes has given us great comfort.”

Congratulations to the lovely couple!
