Edwina Bartholomew is expecting her second child with husband Neil Varcoe – sharing the happy news with Sunrise viewers live on the air on Thursday morning.

“We’re having another baby!” Edwina excitedly told her co-hosts, David Koch and Natalie Barr.

Edwina’s second bub also means her 18-month-old daughter Molly, who she welcomed wiht Neil in December 2019, will become a big sister.

“I tried to tell Molly but she wasn’t interested,” Edwina revealed. “I showed her the photo but she proceeded to scrunch it up and throw it on the floor so hopefully when the baby arrives she doesn’t act the same way.”

The Sunrise star revealed that her new bundle of joy is due in February 2022. She also knows the gender of her baby, but will be keeping it under wraps for now.

“We found out this time because we just wanted to know but I wanted to keep that one as a little secret,” the 38-year-old star said.

Edwina admitted that her co-host, Matt Shirvington, was the first to catch on to her pregnancy while the duo were covering the Tokyo Olympics for Channel Seven earlier this month.

She also said colleague Natalie had realised she was expecting because she was eating “a lot of peanut butter toast” to cut through morning sickness.

Edwina previously spoke with TV WEEK about how motherhood had given her a whole new outlook on life.

“The amount of energy I’ve wasted sweating the small stuff – for years,” she said. “Now, I just think, ‘Oh, I wish I’d made better use of that time.’

“I think it’s so rare for women to say, ‘Hey, I’m good at this,'” she continued, acknowledging the pressure women face as new mothers.

“But you know what? I’m a really good mum, and Molly’s a really good baby. And we have a really happy family. That’s such a huge achievement. I don’t think ‘old me’ would have recognised that it’s a big deal and a great thing to be able to accomplish.”

In the interview, which took place in December of last year, Edwina expressed her and Neil’s desire to have more children one day.

“We’ll definitely try to have more than one,” she said. “It’s been such a joyful experience, and Molly is such a joy – although, I feel like we got pretty lucky first time around.”

Looks like all went according to plan! Congratulations to Edwina and Neil on their growing family.
