It’s been six years since Nicole Kidman’s father unexpectedly died during a trip to Singapore in 2014.

But for the actress, her heartbreaking loss is still as poignant and raw as ever – especially on milestone days like birthdays.

On Thursday the 53-year-old took to Instagram to pay tribute to her late father, Antony Kidman, on what would have been his 82nd birthday.

“Papa, today would have been your 82nd birthday ❤️ We miss you each and every day xx,” the Big Little Lies star penned alongside two never-before-seen family photos.

In the first photo, Nicole can be seen with her parents as they proudly cradle one of her newborn granddaughters.

While Nic didn’t reveal which baby it was, fans were quick to speculate the bub in question was Nicole and Keith’s youngest daughter, Faith Margaret.

“I miss my daddy every day. Look at Baby Faith! 💕,” one user wrote.

“BABY FAITH,” another said.

The actress, who has been open with her fertility struggles in the past, carried her oldest daughter, Sunday Rose, 12, with husband Keith Urban, and used a surrogate to welcome Faith Margaret, nine. She also shares two adopted children, Bella Cruise, 27, and Connor Cruise, 25, with ex-husband Tom Cruise.

Antony Kidman died in September 2014 after suffering a fall while he was in Singapore visiting Nicole’s younger sister, Antonia, now 49, who was living there at the time.

Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show just a month after his death, Nicole spoke about the importance of speaking about loss and grief, rather than pushing those feelings down.

“Everybody loses their parents and it’s awful. I’m sorry to bring everybody down but at the same time I’m trying to navigate through something right now and I’m amazed when people reach out because it’s an awkward thing at times but to have people go ‘I’m so sorry for your loss,’ the power of that, even a note or anything, I’ve gotten so much love from people,” she said.

“There’s something about when you realise someone else has gone through a similar thing or is going through a similar thing, it really connects you.”

Most recently the Kidman-Urban clan, who are based out of Nashville, jetted back to Australia so Nic could begin filming for the adaptation of Nine Perfect Strangers by Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty of which she is starring in and co-producing.

The family of four have since jetted out of Australia to Dublin as Nic films her latest movie The Expatriates.
