MAFS’s Zoe Hendrix opens up on this “awkward” breastfeeding side effect

New mums, can you relate?
MAFS Zoe Hendrix

Zoe Hendrix has never been one to hold back from sharing her raw truth about the challenges associated with motherhood, and her latest admission is no different.

Taking to Instagram, the Married at First Sight star opened up on a lesser-discussed side effect of breastfeeding alongside a candid bikini snap.

“MILK JUGS gone uneven,” she penned. “One of the many joys of breastfeeding. I wondered why I got a few stares at the pool that day… awkward!”

And it seems mothers alike couldn’t have agreed more with the 27-year-old, as they soon began to comment their own experiences in dealing with the familiar issue.

“I call my left boob my ‘power boob’”, one follower wrote while another shared: “The struggle is real! My 15-month-old only nurses from my left side now so you can only imagine the lopsided-ness going on at the moment”.

One-sided breastfeeding is a common and “normal” occurrence for nursing mums, as The Australian Breastfeeding Association outlines.

Whether one breast seems to produce more milk than the other, or baby simply prefers one side, the mother “may notice that one breast is larger than the other (because it is making milk), but it is unlikely that anyone else will notice any difference”.

Following weaning, it’s said breasts tend to return to their original size, though a large difference between sizes may indicate insufficient glandular tissue.

Zoe and her reality-TV hubby Alex Garner met on the controversial reality show in its first season in 2015, and were a rare success of the program.

Not only have they stayed together, but they also welcomed a child – their daughter Harper-Rose – into the world in November last year after a heartbreaking miscarriage in June 2015.
