It’s official: a round of congratulations for Libby Trickett is in order, with the former Olympic swimming champ giving birth to her second daughter with husband, Luke Trickett, over the weekend.

And, just like her big sister, Poppy, “Little Eddie”, weighing in at 3.7kg and measuring in at 52cm long, arrived a couple of weeks early.

Taking to Instagram to share intimate snaps of Eddie’s first moments in this world, proud mum Libby, understandably, could barely contain her excitement!

“Luke and I are so thrilled to announce that our second little girl, Edwina Daisy Trickett arrived into the world (a couple of weeks early – just like her big sister!) on the 23rd of February at 1.25am,” she wrote.

“We can’t believe how lucky and blessed we are to have brought another gorgeous little being into our lives! We are so in love and Poppy is a very excited big sister.”

But despite her elation over the sage arrival of Eddie, Libby, 33, who originally hails from Townsville, is not one to shy away from opening up about the challenges of motherhood.

In April last year, the swimming superstar opened up on Instagram again about the not-so-glamourous moments of being a parent – something that we know all mums can relate to.

“It’s sometimes hard to put into words what motherhood is. Yes, it’s joyful. Yes, it’s a blessing. Yes, it is without a doubt an absolute miracle. But it’s also hard and lonely,” she revealed.

“It can be isolating and bone achingly tiring. I found the transition to motherhood tough. Hell, I still can find it bloody tough at times 19 months in but I wanted to share my story in case it helps another mother out there that might be finding things hard right now.”
