For most of us, Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate those special women in our lives over breakfast, brunch or just a cup of tea or two on the second Sunday of every month.

However, for others, Mother’s Day can a little too close to home, with May 13 becoming a painful reminder that their mums are no longer here to share a warm hug with.

Here, we pay tribute to three celebrities who have lost their mums, but are celebrating their lives and memories in the most beautiful ways.

Lisa Wilkinson

In March, mum-of-three Lisa took to social media to announce that her beloved mum, Beryl, had passed away.

Now, just two months since her mum’s passing, Lisa has taken to Instagram to honour the life of the mum she treasured so much.

“Happy Mother’s Day Mum,” she wrote. “Our first without you…”

Later that same day, Lisa appeared on The Project, only to be surprised with three surprise Mother’s Day wishes from her own kids, Louis, Jake and Billi FitzSimons, which caused the veteran journalist to break down on national television.

“This is my first Mother’s Day without my mum,” she said in between wiping away her tears. “I only lost her two months ago, so that’s really, really special.”

Jake Ellis

Bachelor In Paradise star Jake posted an equal parts heartbreaking and heartwarming post about his late mum, Robyn, who lost a 25-year battle with cancer this January.

“This is the first Mother’s Day without you, the first time Luke and I haven’t been able to hold you close and tell you how how much we love you on this special day,” he wrote on Instagram.

“But I know you’re looking over every step we take just as you’re in our hearts every single moment of each day.”

“I miss you and I love you forever Mummy.”

Georgia Love

In 2016, The Bachelorette‘s Georgia Love lost her mum to pancreatic cancer after she was only diagnosed with it six months beforehand.

“You were the one I went to for advice, the one I shared every story with and the one who was always there to pick me up,” she wrote on Instagram at the time of her mum’s passing.

“There is so much more I need and want to share with you. I have no idea how to even begin to say goodbye.”

Now, 18 months on and it’s Georgia’s second Mother’s Day without her mum. But that doesn’t mean she’s not going to celebrate the day altogether. Taking to Instagram, Georgia posted a loved-up picture of her sister and grandmother as they trio celebrate “Grandmother’s Day” together.
