Ryan Clark has been one busy man.

Aside from working as a Waverley Council lifeguard, just completing filming Bondi Rescue‘s 16th season and running two of his E-Lab Training gyms in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, his third child, son Marley Colin, was born just five weeks ago!

“Another boy. Number three now – should be a nice and relaxing household,” the star known as “Whippet” jokes to Woman’s Day.

“A girl would have been amazing, but the first two boys [Nixon, seven, and Jett, five] have been awesome, and as long as they’re healthy – it doesn’t bother me what we have.

He’s a great addition to the family.”

While Ryan, 37, has taken to fatherhood like a duck to water, he says his “superwoman” wife Gina has supported him so he can continue working on growing his gym empire and fulfilling his lifeguard duties.

Work aside, he’s been sure to prioritise the most important thing of all to him – getting his boys in the water.

“Marley will be in the surf as soon as possible. I definitely want them all growing up surfing, so it’s so important to me to get them comfortable in the water,” he says.

“And Nixon and Jett will want him in there with them, so give it another couple of weeks and I’m sure Marley will have his first swim.”

On whether he wants his sons following in his footsteps as a lifeguard, Ryan “wouldn’t say no”, but first he’s going to make sure they know just how dangerous the ocean can be.

“I know how quickly things can turn bad. I’m very aware of where they are and what they’re doing every time we’re at the beach. You’re never really off duty,” he says.

“It’s important to be respectful of the ocean and to be careful of it, but at the same time it’s so much fun and it’s such a rewarding job so if that’s what they want to do [lifeguarding] when they’re older, then I’ll be happy.”

Ryan is just one cast member to have a baby in the past couple of years, and given how tight-knit they are, Bondi’s beach heroes have all been sharing parenting tips with each other.

“A few of the boys have had babies recently and Jules [Juliana King] just had a baby, so it’s nice to be able to pass on a few tips,” he says. “There’s lots of that.”

While Ryan’s boys certainly keep him on his toes at home – “three is more than a handful” – don’t expect to see him giving up Bondi Rescue any time soon.

“I love what I do, and I’ll be lifeguarding forever so as long as they keep shooting it, I’ll be there,” he says.
