Bindi Irwin has dedicated part of her life to honouring her late father, the iconic Steve Irwin, after he passed away in 2006.

So, it is unsurprising that since the birth of her daughter, Grace Warrior, she has made sure her dad is a part of her 13-month-old’s life.

Now, Bindi has revealed to People Magazine how Grace has developed a fascination with her late grandfather, who they call “Grandpa Crocodile,” through watching his documentaries.

“We have so many documentaries of dad, and we’re always playing them for Grace,” she told the publication.

“It’s so fun to watch her study him. I didn’t realise how much dad’s passion for life and his animated facial expressions – I mean, they captivate her.”

Bindi also mused over the traits Grace inherited from her father: “His determination and his inability to sit still.”

“I’m excited to see as she grows up how her personality will develop. If dad was around, honestly, we would never see her. He would be so in love.”

Chandler, 25, and Bindi, 23, welcomed their daughter on March 25, 2021, and they have been smitten ever since.

The couple regularly updates fans with milestones and photos.

They recently celebrated their toddler’s first steps in April by sharing a video on Instagram of Bindi sitting on the ground and encouraging Grace to take a few steps, while waving at the camera and calling “Hey dada” to Chandler.

The proud dad could be heard cheering his daughter on and saying, “Good walking, good walking” from behind the camera (you can watch the adorable moment in the player above).

Grace babbled cheerfully as she took a few steps towards Bindi before shifting gears and heading towards her dad.

Dressed in a blue patterned onesie, the grinning toddler seemed pretty sure on her feet already.

Bindi captioned the video “Big moment”, leading to a flood of supportive comments from friends and fans.

“Learning to walk in the #AustraliaZoo gardens. The cutest. 💚 We’re so proud of you Grace Warrior!” wrote the official Australia Zoo account.
