Mum punches and knocks out 50-year-old woman trying to see Peppa Pig at Christmas Parade

The parade was "complete chaos".

A woman has been taken to hospital after being knocked out cold by a mum who punched her whilst trying to see the Peppa Pig float at the Hamleys Christmas Parade.

The as-yet-unidentified woman is thought to be in her 50s, and collapsed to the ground after another mum punched her whilst trying to see the children’s TV character.

Police were called to the Peppa Pig area, and Hamleys were forced to close down that particular zone so that an ambulance could attempt to get through the 800,000-strong crowd to her.

The bust-up is being investigated by police, who have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 1.06pm on Sunday November 19 to reports of an altercation outside Hamleys on Regent Street.

“A woman, aged in her fifties, was punched before collapsing. She was taken to a central London hospital. Her injuries were non life threatening or life changing.

“No arrests have been made and enquiries continue. Anyone with any information should call police on 101.”

Hamleys have said that the crowds in attendance were completely “unprecented.”

Attendees of the event took to Facebook to complain about the event.

One wrote: “We were caught in a crowd crush. My children were crying at lack of respect from adults and being shoved and elbowed. Let’s hope there is a investigation into why all this happened – I heard a women had been assaulted.”

Another added: “As much as I agree there should have been more crowd control it is also up to the ‘adults’ to behave. Everyone just kept pushing.”

One other person wrote: “It was absolute chaos – there were people falling over, kids were being crushed against fencing.

“Things began getting heated and parents started pushing and shoving. A fight broke out because people were getting frustrated – it’s like mob mentality.”
