Real Life

Wait, the Pope is giving away a white and gold Lamborghini because ..why?

Well, that's one way to do it.

Pope Francis was recently presented with a gold and white Lamborghini as a gift. A gracious, albeit slightly strange, gift for someone who has elected to live a modest life and serve God, but it’s the thought that counts.

Because Pope Francis is, well.. the Pope, there was little chance he’d be hooning around Vatican City waving at the locals from behind tinted windows.

So he’s doing something a lot more befitting of a man in his holy position, he is auctioning off the sports car and plans to donate all the money raised to fund the Nineveh Plains Reconstruction Project, to the Christian communities in Iraq who have been ravaged by the activity of the Islamic State militant group (ISIS) and to Italian charities in Africa.

His Holiness Pope Francis has successfully auctioned cars to aid charity in the past.

The Nineveh Plains Reconstruction Project works to provide a safe-heaven for women who were victims of trafficking through ISIS.

The car, complete with the Pope’s signature and blessing is valued at over $310850 and is set to be auctioned mid-week.

It may sound like a novel concept, but it’s actually a move the Pope has made before.

In 2014, the Pope auctioned off a Harley-Davidson motorcycle with profits going to a Roman homeless shelter and in 2016 he auctioned three navy blue VW Golf cars to help Syrian refugees.

Well, when you’re onto a good thing – keep on truckin’.
