This is what Alzheimer’s looks like

A loving son has shared a clip of his mother who has Alzheimer's to raise awareness of the disease

The son of a woman who has Alzheimer’s disease has uploaded a video of his mother in a state of confusion and fear, in a bid to raise awareness about the struggle carers and sufferers of the disease face.

9news reports Californian man Joe Fraley, posted the heartbreaking video to YouTube on December 7, where it has since been viewed over 100, 000 times.

The three-minute clip shows Joe’s 70-year-old mother Judy, who has Alzheimer’s, begging her son not to abandon her, becoming confused about her husband’s whereabouts, and struggling to complete sentences.

“I realise how disturbing this video can be to watch,” Joe wrote.

“This was about a year and a half ago when I lived with my parents to help my dad take care of my mom before she went into Alzheimer’s assisted living.”

“She now can no longer talk or walk.”

Throughout the clip, Joe is heard comforting his mother and reassuring her she will always be taken care of.

“It’s really sad but it shows what it’s like to take care of someone with Alzheimer’s.” Joe wrote on Facebook.

“I think it’s really important to raise awareness of this disease.”
