Not even the coldest of ice rinks could stop Disney skaters Brian Duckworth and Melanie Carrington’s romance heating up.
On ice, they positively sizzle. Every night, skaters Brian Duckworth and Melanie Carrington steal the show bringing The Lion King to life in Disney On Ice’s latest extravaganza, Worlds Of Fantasy.
Dressed up as the proud King Simba and his beautiful partner Nala, they stir the crowd with a spectacular performance to Can You Feel The Love Tonight. But the fact is, this dancing duo have felt the love for 11 years! When Brian and Melanie met, it was love at first sight.
“I knew the first time I saw Melanie,” Brian reveals as the couple take time out from a gruelling training session at Sydney’s Macquarie Ice Skating Rink. “We were in Alabama on our way to rehearsal and I noticed Melanie straight away. She was just so lovely, eloquent and she carried herself with such grace. When she walked away, it was like a melting sensation – no pun intended!”
Melanie, originally from Holland, agrees that the magic happens whenever Disney is involved, and she likens their love story to a happily-every-after fairytale. “When we skate to Can You Feel The Love Tonight, it touches my heart. It’s such a beautiful, romantic song,” she says.
