Boy writes letter to judge urging him to keep mother in jail

Life for me would be 10 times better if mom didn't kill my dad.

A boy who was just four years old when his mother stabbed his father to death has written to the judge, urging him to keep her in jail.

AP reports that Bradyn Takach has told the judge that he watched his father die.

“Dear Judge Peeler, I feel that my mom should stay in prison because I seen her stab my dad clean through the heart with my sister in his arms,” the letter says.

“Life for me would be 10 times better if mom didn’t kill my dad.’

Bradyn was four and his sister Brooklynn was 15 months old when their mother, Shannon Smith, stabbed their father, Robbie Takach.

Bradyn later told a court counsellor that “his daddy put him in a corner because he had gotten in trouble and then his mother got mad … She got a knife and she came at his daddy and he shoved her away and then she came back again and she stabbed him.”

His mother was found guilty in 2010 of voluntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison but, having served more than half her sentence, is now eligible for parole.

Her parole hearing is set for next week.
