Given that he wore a kilt to his wedding to Kim Sears, British tennis fans certainly had their fingers crossed that he would look to his homeland for inspiration in naming his newborn daughter.
British bookies had listed Freya, Alexandra and Elizabeth as the couple’s likely choices, but, just like he does to opponents on the tennis courts, Andy has gone with something a little more unexpected.

World number 2 Andy Murray and wife Kim are a power couple on the international tennis circuit.
It was revealed overnight that Andy and Kim gave their little one a Greek-inspired name, Sophia Olivia.
It’s believed Andy and Kim, both 28, are ensconced at their home in England’s posh town of Oxshott, enjoying their first few days of Sophia’s life.
The bub was born on February 7, weighing 8lbs 10oz.
So far, there’s been no sign of highly anticipated first photos of the little girl, however Andy’s Nan Ellen has revealed that he called family members to reveal their happy news.
The baby was born not long after Andy’s heartbreaking finals loss to Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open.
A tearful Andy declared he would be on the first plane home from Melbourne to be with his heavily pregnant wife.
As we wait for more information about their little girl, one thing’s for sure – self-admitted potty mouth Kim will have to watch her colourful language in Sophia’s formative years!
