How a wrong number text brought these strangers together

Discover how an accidental text from the maternity ward resulted in a hilarious yet adorable meeting between total strangers.

When most of us receive a text from an unknown contact, we usually say “sorry, wrong number!” and move on. But when Dennis Williams from Tallahassee, Florida received a text on Saturday that clearly wasn’t meant for him, he did something so special that it will take your breath away.

On March 19, 21-year-old Dennis received a group text informing him that a couple he didn’t know were at the hospital, awaiting the arrival of a baby.

“We are at the hospital. Having a baby today!” the text read, followed by: “She has dilated to between 5-6.”

“Congrats lol but I think someone got the wrong number,” Dennis responded.

The baby update texts were coming in thick and fast from overjoyed grandmother, Teresa.

In the excitement of the new bubs arrival, she didn’t seem to realise that she was sharing details of the baby’s weight, dilation and photos to a complete stranger within the group text for friends and family.

“Well I don’t know y’all but me and the boys will be thru to take picture with the baby,” replied Dennis before asking what room number they will be able to find the new parents.

Much to the family’s surprise, Dennis stuck to his promise! He turned up at the hospital with his brother Deorick bearing gifts for the new mother, Lindsey and her baby boy, Cason.

Lindsey’s husband and new father Mark was absolutely astounded by the surprise visit. Speaking to the Daily Mail, he described their surprise meeting as “different”.

“It was different, I mean my friend just walked in and said, ‘There are some more people coming down the hallway,’ and we didn’t know who they were and they said, ‘Oh we’re the ones who got the random text message.’

“I don’t think we would have randomly invited them over but we appreciate it and the gifts. You don’t hear about much compassion in the news anymore.”

Sorry, wrong number! An accidental text from the maternity ward resulted in a hilarious yet adorable meeting between these total strangers.

Teresa posted a photo of the chance meeting on Facebook accompanied by the touching caption: “I accidentally text a message about Mark and Lindsey having a baby to a number I had in my phone for someone else which now belongs to Mr. Dennis Williams and he and his brother came by to visit us and bought the baby a gift!” the ecstatic new grandmother said of the happy accident.

“What a blessing these two guys were to our family. They were so sweet and kind to do this!
