It’s been two days since a woman was found dead at Snapper Point on the NSW Central Coast. However, police have not been able to identify her.
The woman was found naked, floating face down with stab wounds.
Homicide detectives were called to the area at around 10.30am on Sunday. They believe the woman would not have been in the water for more than 48 hours.
Police have described the mystery woman as Asian, aged between 20 and 35, and approximately 170cm tall.
Police told the Newcastle Herald that it would have been impossible for the person who discarded the woman’s body to go unnoticed.
‘With it being a long weekend I just can’t see how she could have been there and no one saw her for any great length of time,’ Detective Inspector Gary Jubelin said.
Homicide detectives also told the media that they are exploring the possibility the person who dumped the woman’s body could have slept overnight inside the gates of the park, which are locked between 6pm and 5.30am.
The police are looking for a person who is familiar with the area and could have easily navigated the path down to the headland and the blowhole.
‘It is a fairly lonely and remote place,’ Det Insp Jubelin said.
‘Our first priority is to identify the woman and then establish how she ended up in such a lonely place and who is responsible at this stage, it’s a real mystery.’
