A distraught woman in denial about her partner’s death lived with his decomposing body for months

The death isn't being treated as suspicious.

A devastated Western Australian woman is believed to have been living with her partner’s decomposing body for months before police were called to the house this week.

The woman reportedly refused to accept his death for eight weeks, but after working with neighbours to come to terms with the tragedy, they were finally able to inform police.

A spokeswoman confirmed police found a 56-year-old man in the home when they were called to Mandurah, Western Australia on Wednesday morning at 9am.

The death isn’t being treated as suspicious.

The house has been cordoned off as a crime scene and police think the recent warmer weather accelerated the decomposition process, making it difficult for forensic pathologists to determine exactly how long the man had been dead.

The woman is not a suspect but police are questioning her as to why she failed to call authorities earlier.

The man reportedly had health conditions and after police interviewed his wife, an assessment at Peel Health Campus ascertained she too was in a poor condition.

Police are preparing a report for the Coroner.
