Woman, 95, forced to sleep on floor at Tasmanian hospital

An elderly woman, 95, was forced to lie on the floor at Royal Hobart Hospital for several hours following a vomiting episode.

Pictures posted on a local Facebook discussion group show the patient sprawled on the ground with her head propped on some pillows.

“This is how the emergency room Hobart treat elderly people,” the caption read.

“She was quite unwell by the look of her,” a witness told the Mercury newspaper.

“I’m not sure how long she was waiting before we got there, but she was still there four hours later when we were seen.”

The Tasmanian Health Service confirmed the incident took place, saying it had been a busy night for the emergency department, Daily Mail reports.
