A Victorian woman has posted an ad on gumtree seeking a human kitten – and she’s not joking.
Sophie, who has withheld her surname, posted the ad this week.
“I’m looking for somebody to curl up on the end of my bed and purr softly like a sleeping kitten as I sleep,” she writes.
“I have had a lot of trouble sleeping and I think it would be comforting falling asleep to the sound of a cat purring and also knowing that someone is there to keep an eye on me as I sleep.”
The ad gets weirder…
Sophie says that her new employee will be given a uniform (a realistic cat costume, naturally) and will be required to crawl around her Ballaret home on all fours.
“I have always found great comfort in the idea of having a pet cat but I just don’t have the time to clean up after one and feed one,” she said.
The job pays about $60 if you have a “nice, relaxing and consistent purr” but only $35 to $40 if you “ain’t the best”.
Of course, there are some conditions: “I’d prefer if you didn’t eat or drink while I am still awake as I would find that very off-putting.
“You can of course use my bathroom. But only two hours after I fall asleep to ensure that I won’t suddenly wake up to find the room empty,” stipulates Sophie.
Sophie told News.com.au that she isn’t actually a cat person, however she does find the sound of a cat purring very soothing.
An update to the ad warns that joke replies will be deleted.
