Toddler walking with grandmother dies after being hit by P-plate driver

Rest in peace, little one.

A baby boy has sadly died after he and his grandmother were struck by a car as they walked along a street.

The one-year-old and his grandmother were walking along Marion Street in Auburn, Sydney, earlier this morning when they were hit by a car with P-plates, Daily Mail reports.

He was rushed to hospital, however, he has since passed away.

“We just heard a bang, and then we all ran, and then we just saw the grandmother … who had the grandchild, holding him,” an unnamed witness told Nine News.

She described the situation as “heartbreaking”.

The grandmother reportedly did not suffer any injuries, but was taken to Westmead Hospital suffering shock.

Police have taken the driver of the car to Auburn Hospital for mandatory testing.
