Another driveway death involving toddler: Boy struck by car at Adelaide home

A toddler has been struck and killed by a car in a tragic driveway accident in Parafield Gardens, South Australia.

A 15-month-old boy, who’s name has not been released, died after he was hit by a silver Holden sedan on Lancaster Avenue just before 5:30pm on Wednesday.

The 49-year-old driver of the vehicle is assisting police with the investigation, reports The Advertiser.

It’s thought the toddler was on of four children living at the Parafield Gardens home.

Neighbours reported hearing a “crunch” sound before the flare of ambulance sirens confirmed the seriousness of the accident.

Police have not released further details of how the accident happened.

It’s thought the toddler is one of four children who lived at the property with their parents.

According to the Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure one child, often a toddler, is run over in their driveway every week in Australia.

On average, seven children are killed each year and 60 seriously injured after being hit or run over by a motor vehicle at home.
