Toddler found unconscious in Queensland public pool

The three-year-old was at a pool party with family members.

A pool party turned to tragedy yesterday when a toddler drowned in front of her family.

The three-year-old was found in a community pool at Bethania, in Logan, Queensland just after 2pm.

A family member pulled her unconscious from the water and lifeguards tried to revive her before paramedics arrived.

“There was a large family gathering at the pool for the afternoon,” Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman Phillip Campbell said.

Around 70 people were at the pool at the time and police said they were sourcing CCTV from the pool and taking witness statements, 9News reports.

Distressingly, three other children were lucky to survive after three near-drowning incidents in pools around southeast Queensland yesterday.

A 10-year-old girl was taken to hospital in a critical condition after being pulled from a backyard pool at Little Mountain on the Sunshine Coast.

A pair of twins were also taken to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in a stable condition after being pulled from a public pool at Rochedale.
