Tara Brown allegedly begged for mercy in last 000 call just moments before her death

Police have submitted Tara Brown's horrifying last 000 call as evidence in her murder.

The horrifying transcript of Tara Brown’s last frantic 000 call has been submitted to the court as evidence in the case of her murder.

Lionel John Patea, 24, is currently standing trial for the murder of his ex-partner, Queensland mother Tara Brown, also 24, who was killed on September 8th.

Patea faced the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday for a full “hand-up” committal hearing, where the prosecution submits all evidence and witness statements for the defence’s consideration.

Among the evidence was the last triple-0 phone call made by Tara, allegedly just moments before she was beaten to death, reports news.com.au.

The phone call, which was not played but instead was transcribed, captures Tara allegedly begging for mercy as Patea begins his assault.

Police are expected to allege that the call was made by Tara as she left the Nerang Childcare Centre around 8.45am, where she dropped off her young daughter.

The call continues as Tara’s car is smashed by Patea’s, evidenced by the loud bang heard, and – even horrifyingly – as she is beaten and assaulted while still trapped in the wreckage of her car.

Tara was beaten so severely, she died from her injuries just a day later.

The phone call itself is allegedly so harrowing; it deeply disturbed even the most senior police officers.

The transcript of the phone call was just one piece of evidence submitted by the prosecution as part of the police brief of evidence.

Alongside the call, police also submitted more than 80 witness statements.

Patea is currently standing trial for five charges, including murder, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and breaching a domestic violence order.

He is expected to proceed to trial late next year.
