Sydney girl, 6, crushed between cars – driver allegedly 6 times over limit

The little girl was airlifted to hospital with pelvic injuries in a serious condition.

A Sydney woman who was allegedly six times over the legal blood alcohol limit has been remanded on conditional bail after she crushed a six-year-old girl when reverse parking in Sydney’s north west.

According to reports, it is alleged that the little girl was helping her father pack groceries into the family’s car on Progress Ave, Eastwood when a car driven by Barbara Farlow, 50, crushed her between two cars yesterday (October 5).

The six-year-old suffered pelvic injuries and was flown by CareFlight to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a serious condition. Later last night she was reported to be in a stable condition.

Two other parked vehicles were damaged in a separate incident, also involving the Subaru driven by Farlow.

The Daily Telegraph adds that Farlow, a mum herself from Ryde, was seen walking away from the crash site on foot but local shopkeepers ran after the woman and detained her until police arrived.

Police say Farlow was arrested later, subjected to a breath analysis at Ryde Police Station which returned a reading of 0.303 – six times higher than the legal driving level of 0.05. The woman was charged with high range PCA, cause bodily harm by misconduct, drive while using mobile phone.

Farlow, who had apparently been at a local RSL before driving, was granted conditional bail and will appear in Burwood Local Court on Monday 24 October 2016.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page.
