Prince William and his fellow pilots at the East Anglian Air Ambulance will be feeling extra special this Valentine’s Day.
The ambulance service is set to receive a brand new helicopter, similar to the one that William currently flies.
The new chopper will provide greater capacity and quicker response times for the team.
The H145 has a bigger cabin space and will be operated by two pilots, which means that the doctor and critical care paramedics are free to do their work in the back.
William has been flying with the service since June, helping paramedics save lives in the area around Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Norfolk.
The ambulance service also has a new base complete with resting rooms for pilots to relax between missions. “The crew have really high pressure jobs, and do a 12-hour shift and masses of training in between,” Diana Jakubowska, head of communications at the East Anglian Air Ambulance, told People.
William receives a salary for his shifts with the ambulance service, however he donates the money to charity.
The prince has returned to work after the Christmas holidays and was spotted in action landing in the backyard of a school. However, on this occasion there wasn’t an emergency, just a chance to join students for a roast chicken lunch.
