People are naming babies after Instagram filters

Nice to meet you, Ludwig.

Instagram has taken over the lives of millennial’s what with them documenting their every move on the app but now, they’re taking it one step further.

BabyCenter has released the results of their Baby Names Survey and they found that there has been an upswing in popularity of names inspired by some Instagram filters – but thankful, not Lo-Fi or Hefe!

“You take these precious moments in your life and [a filter] makes them even more beautiful, it enhances them. I think people have just really warm feelings about that and these names come into their consciousness,” Linda Murray, BabyCenter’s global editor in chief, told Today.

“They’re looking for something unique, but not unheard of,” she went on, adding: “No one’s naming their baby X-Pro II.”

Plenty of parents are now naming their little boys Lux, Ludwig, Amaro and Kelvin. And for little girls, Valencia, Juno and Willow are most popular.

Pop culture has also inspired some of the most popular names with Hazel, the protagonist from The Fault in our Stars on the rise as well as Hermione, from the Harry Potter franchise.
