Young New Zealand woman dies after reportedly taking a selfie

Toni Kelly fell from a second storey window, resulting in severe brain injuries.

A young New Zealand woman has plunged to her death after allegedly attempting to take a selfie near a second-storey window overseas.

Toni Kelly suffered a serious brain injury after the fall and was rushed to hospital but was unable to be saved.

Ms Kelly had moved to London from Whanganui, which is on the coast of the North Island, just three months earlier and her parents are “devastated beyond words”.

Details about her fall are yet to be confirmed by either or family or UK authorities.

Ms Kelly was an organ donor and a GoFundMe page set up to return her body to New Zealand revealed her organs had already helped save others in the UK.

“Our girl Toni passed away in London UK and we want to help the family bring her home to New Zealand,” the page said. “Toni was a young, happy and beautiful girl who has had a tragic accident while living overseas in London.”

“Unfortunately Toni has sadly passed away due to her injuries. In her death Toni’s organs have been donated to help save other lives in the UK.

“This money will help the family bring Toni home and pay for any extra expenses. Any donation, big or small will be appreciated by all of her family and friends.

“Money will be used to help with all expense involved to bring her and her family back to New Zealand.”

The page so far has raised $38,000.

Her sister Stacey Kelly took to social media to thank Ms Kelly’s friends for the fundraising page.

“I just wanna say thank you from the bottom of my heart for the endless support so far. Also a huge thank you to the girls who thought of & created this beautiful page for our baby girl.

“We are completely lost for words & can’t wait to be home.”
