James Packer’s personal life is a “disaster”, in the billionaire’s own words.
The surprisingly candid comment has come in an interview with Forbes magazine as he appeared to be reflecting on the toll his business interests have taken on his personal life.
“I’ve made a bunch of mistakes in my life. I’ve had my ups and downs,” he says. “Business is good right now, but now my personal life is a disaster.”
Packer’s business interests look to be on a winning streak as he has clinched a number of deals over the last year including the controversial $2 billion casino at Barangaroo and a $450 million film financing deal with Warner Bros for his new film company, RatPac Entertainment.
But the successes have come amidst personal turmoil for the “Australian casino billionaire” as he is described by Forbes.

“I had a marriage breakdown last year. The last thing I think I am is perfect. I’m just trying to do the best job I can. I’m trying to be the best father I can to my kids. I’m trying to do the best job I can running my business.”
Packer has been rumoured to be in a relationship with Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr following her divorce from actor Orlando Bloom last year. He separated from his wife of six years, Erica, in September, just weeks after the family moved into their renovated Sydney mansion. Their three children now live with Erica in Los Angeles.
