Marissa Mayer gives birth to twin girls

The Yahoo CEO plans to take limited time off work.

Congratulations are in order for Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer and her husband, Zachary Bogue after Marissa gave birth to their identical twin girls on Thursday.

“Zach and I are excited to announce that our identical twin girls were born early this morning,” Mayer wrote on Twitter on Thursday.

“Our whole family is doing great!”

40-year-old Mayer famously took only two weeks maternity leave after the birth of her first son three years ago, and the CEO explained in September she would likely do the same after the birth of her twins.

“Since my pregnancy has been healthy and uncomplicated and since this is a unique time in Yahoo’s transformation, I plan to approach the pregnancy and delivery as I did with my son three years ago, taking limited time away and working throughout.

“I’ve shared the news and my plans with Yahoo’s board of directors and my executive team, and they are incredibly supportive and happy for me.”

In April 2013, Mayer implemented new parental leave policies within Yahoo, granting mothers up to 16 weeks paid leave, and up to eight weeks for new fathers.
