In June, 2016, new mum Michelle Dearing’s life changed forever. This became the time in her life that her newborn son, Chayse, was murdered by her ex-fiance, ice user Dwayne Lindsey.

And, according to numerous reports, upon being escorted from Victoria’s Supreme Court on Sunday afternoon, Lindsey was seen blowing a kiss to Dearing’s foster mother, Mariah Strahan, as well as laughing.

“It’s been torture. It’s been very hard to sit in court and listen to the injuries that Chayse had,” Ms Strahan told reporters outside of court on Sunday.

“You can’t explain what he did. None of us know why he did it … it’s just obviously the evil in him.”

“What I honestly think of him is he can rot in hell.”

Ms Dearing had gone out to do some shopping with friends at a 24-hour Kmart in the early hours of June 26, leaving her little boy to be looked after by Lindsey.

But what Dearing came home to will horrify you.

When Dearing arrived home after shopping, she found Chayse injured and fighting for his life – a battle he would tragically lose just two days later.

Court reports reveal that Chayse was found with abrasions and bruises to his groin, retinal bleeding, severe traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, along with marks on his neck.

At the time of the incident, Lindsey told police that he had fallen asleep with Chayse on his lap when he was awaken by a spider. Lindsey then alleges that the baby fell of his chest and hit his head on a wall heater – allegations prosecutors argue were inconsistent with medical reports that suggest Chayse’s death from a head injury was unlikely to have been accidental.

Lindsey is due to reappear in the Supreme Court of Victoria on May 3 for a plea hearing before sentencing.
