No one should ever underestimate how important lifeguards are – they see things that most people would never notice and they act on it lightning fast.
Take, for example, this lifeguard at a South Carolina wave pool who saved a three-year-old girl from drowning.
The pool was packed full of people and no one seemed to notice that the little girl was struggling to stay above water.
Thanks to the quick-thinking of the lifeguard, he jumped in and saved her.
The video was posted to Lifeguard Rescue on YouTube and highlights how important it is to be aware of everything happening around you, and that children in water should always be supervised.
The lifeguard, who is unnamed, said that after he pulled the girl out of the water, he had to walk around looking for her family.
“They had no idea she was missing,” he said.
“I have been doing this for 18 years and I am still amazed by the lack of supervision some kids get around the water.”
