Jarryd Hayne has vehemently denied claims he raped a woman during his brief tenure with NFL’s San Francisco 49ers.

A “Ms. V” filed a civil suit against the footy star on Wednesday accusing him of non-consensual sexual intercourse on December 21, 2015.

The woman has also claimed she stole his “undergarment” as proof of the alleged assault after claiming she woke up in bloodied sheets and “was in shock and wanted to leave”.

“She quickly decided that if she reported to the police she would need some kind of proof and took [Hayne’s] undergarment in case there was need for testing,” the court documents allege.

The Mercury News reported the same suit was rejected in October, 2016 for insufficient evidence and Hayne is unequivocally denying the allegations.

“Mr Hayne and his management are aware of recent media speculation in relation to a civil complaint filed in the United States of America making certain allegations in relation to an event which allegedly occurred in 2015 while playing for the San Francisco 49ers,” his lawyer Ramy Qutami said.

“Mr Hayne has not been served with any proceedings or formal complaint relating to the incident.

“Mr Hayne previously addressed a complaint made to the District Attorney’s office in the County of Santa Clara, California in 2016 and the District Attorney did not proceed any further with the matter due to insufficient evidence to substantiate the allegations. Mr Hayne provided all reasonable assistance to the District Attorney with that investigation.

“Mr Hayne unequivocally and vehemently denies the allegations which are the subject of the civil complaint.

It’s understood the news broke while Hayne was on a flight to Israel.

The NRL do not intend to ban the star but will review the accusations in a separate investigation.

“We note that the police in the United States did not proceed with any criminal proceedings but we will review the information available and continue to monitor the civil case,” the spokesman told NRL.com.
