Daycare centre closes after boy sent home with fever dies

His mother gave him children’s Panadol and put him to bed in their Queensland home. When she went to wake him a few hours later, he was dead.

A Queensland daycare centre has closed its doors after the tragic death of a toddler just hours after he was sent home from the facility with a fever.

Sarah Neil was not alarmed when she received a call to collect her three-year-old son Patrick from daycare on Thursday because he had a fever.

She took him back to their Loganholme home, administered children’s Panadol and put him to bed, reports the Courier Mail. When she went to wake him just hours later, he was dead.

The cause of death is not clear. The childcare center, Hyperdome 1 & 2 Early Education Centre in Logan, closed voluntarily but may reopen as soon as this morning.
