A near record blizzard has shut down the Big Apple. Check out these insane images.

The clean-up operation is in full swing after a near-record blizzard has shut down New York City, but it will be some time before it’s back to business as usual reports news.com.

With limited visibility and power outages across the state, thousands of tourists and commuters were stranded by Winter Storm Jonas. Roads were closed and panic ensued with people wading through snow to get get to the supermarket to stock up on supplies in case they were bunkered down for the long haul.

The city that never sleeps was forced to shut down with police threatening arrest for driving on the road, Broadway’s curtains stayed drawn, basketball and hockey games were postponed and even The Boss, Bruce Springsteen’s, was forced to reschedule his Madison Square Garden show due the crazy conditions.

Although normality was shut down, some people made the most of the winter wonderland with skiers and snowboarders taking to the streets and Central Park.
