Police investigating how 12-year-old managed to drive 1300(!!)km across NSW

The boy was reportedly trying to make it to WA and made it all the way to the SA border...

A 12-year-old boy has managed to drive solo from Kendall near Port Macquarie, all the way to Broken Hill, which is almost at the South Australian border.

He’d driven across almost the entire state of New South Wales and was en route to Perth, according to a NSW Police spokesperson.

Highway patrol officers stopped the boy in Broken Hill when they noticed the car’s bumper was dragging on the ground.

It’s rather astounding he managed to get a third of the way into his journey. Social media is now ablaze with grateful comments that the child didn’t cause a serious accident.

“Checks revealed the driver to be a 12-year-old boy travelling from Kendall NSW on his way to Perth,” the police spokesperson said.

The 12-year-old was arrested and taken to Broken Hill police station but due to his young age, it’s unlikely he’ll be charged.

A Broken Hill duty officer refused to comment further saying it was now in the hands of the Mid North Coast command.

More as we get it.
