David Jones’ Facebook page has been hit with abusive and racist posts after former Sydney Swans star Adam Goodes was announced as their new brand ambassador.

Goods is to star in the David Jones “It’s In You” campaign as one of six ambassadors, including You Am I front man Tim Rogers and model Jessica Gomes.

“Didn’t really like David jones as a store or chain but can be sure I will never set foot or spend a cent in there now,” said one post.

“Well no more shopping at David Jones for me,” one comment read. “Boo boo boo,” contributed another.

David Jones has hidden some “highly offensive” posts and comments on its Facebook page which means they’re only visible to those who have written the comments.

However, a David Jones spokesperson has said they’re continuing to stand by him.

“David Jones is proud to have Adam Goodes, a powerful and inspirational Australian, join its family of ambassadors.”

As part of his deal, he’ll be working with the company to develop a “meaningful” Reconciliation Action Plan.
