A four-year-old girl was left with horrific injuries to her face after an airbag exploded in her face.

Daisy James had been fastening her seatbelt on her Virgin Airlines flight when an airbag secured within the belt she was wearing was mistakenly deployed.

She suffered burns to her face, causing it to swell to three times its normal size, s well as her chest, arms and thigh, news.com.au reports.

“I’m still so angry at what happened,” her mother Gillian told The Sun.

Daisy was travelling back from Washington DC to London Heathrow with her grandmother when the accident happened.

Virgin Airlines have apologised to the family and have admitted liability, awarding Daisy an undisclosed five-figure settlement.

The family have released the pictures of Daisy’s injuries to ensure such an accident never happens again.
