Meryl Streep addresses decades old Dustin Hoffman claim

Dustin Hoffman recently joined a whole host of previously lauded actors, directors and producers who’re now very much in the firing line over horrific sexual harassment allegations.

Now Slate has dug up an old Time interview where Meryl Streep accuses Hoffman of touching her breast.

The comments were made way back in 1979 when Streep told a journalist of the shocking encounter she had with Hoffman. It reads:

“He came up to me and said, ‘I’m Dustin — burp — Hoffman,’ and he put his hand on my breast. What an obnoxious pig, I thought.”

Since the sexual harassment claims about Hoffman imploded all over the internet and this particular allegation has been unearthed, Streep has now been forced to address the 1979 encounter.

Her representative told E! News that the article was “not an accurate rendering of that meeting.”

“There was an offence and it is something for which Dustin apologised. And Meryl accepted that,” Streep’s representative said.

Hoffman has been accused of sexual harassment by two other women he worked with – actress Anna Graham Hunter and playwright Wendy Riss Gatsiounis.

Anna Graham Hunter accused Hoffman of groping her on the set of the 1985 movie Death of a Salesman. She was only 17 at the time.

Hoffman issued an apology stating: “it is not reflective of who I am.”
